TUESDAY, AUGUST 21: The Oleander and her crew have been recognised by the US Consulate for rescuing four sailors last November.

The ship came to the aid of the stricken sailing boat, Elle, 200 miles north west of Bermuda and plucked the crew to safety.

US Consul General Grace W Shelton praised the Oleander crew's rescue operation during a US Coast Guard prize-giving ceremony last Friday.

The Association for Rescue at Sea will now present a special award to the ship's owners from Bermuda on October 4 on Capitol Hill.

The Oleander has now been recognised by three independent professional organisations for the rescuing the crew of the Elle.

On June 12, 2012, the Chamber of Shipping of America awarded a Safety Achievement Award to the ship.

And two days later the vessel was recognised by a panel from the UK trade publication Safety at Sea.
