Carl Paiva is saying ‘bon voyage’ to the travel business.

A 40-year fixture in the travel industry in Bermuda, Mr Paiva will be pursuing one of his other passions — arts management.

Mr Paiva started his career in the travel business in 1971; first as a shipping agent for Watlington & Conyers and later moving on to Meyer Travel in 1974. While at Meyer he served as vice president for 25 years before stepping out on his own by starting "C Travel" with Lois Wilson in November 2000.

Worldview Travel purchased the C Travel in April 2011 and Worldview and Meyer Travel merged earlier this year.

Ricci Zukerman, president of Worldview Travel, said in a press release: “We will miss Carl enormously. He has lead his team into the robust world of Worldview Travel. Not only do we see Carl as an award-winning and accomplished leader, but as a true friend.”

Mr Paiva will be dividing his time between New York City and his family in Bermuda.

He said: “I have always been a fan of the performing arts; especially musical theatre. I look forward to supporting the arts through my philanthropic efforts and hope to contribute to successful productions, advise new talent and enjoy exciting new works in New York City. I have two beautiful daughters and seven grandchildren that mean the world to me, so I will be here in Bermuda for all special events and occasions — using Worldview Travel as my agency, of course.”

Pat Trott, Mr Paiva’s long-time colleague and personal assistant, has taken on the role as branch manager.
