MONDAY, APRIL 23: Two men appeared in court today facing deception charges.

Jahroy Simons, 26, pleaded not guilty to dishonestly obtaining $8,000 from Butterfield Bank by deception on April 10 by representing that he was legitimately supposed to receive the money.

Mr Simons and Phillip Johnson, 30, both denied dishonestly obtaining $8,000 from Butterfield Bank by deception on April 19 by representing that they were legitimately supposed to receive the money.

No details of the case were given in court.

The matter was adjourned for trial on August 23 and both defendants were given $10,000 bail with one surety each. They must report to the Hamilton Police Station every Monday between 8am and 8pm.
