L’Oreal has introduced a line of hair care products that are sulfate (sulphate) and paraben-free.

Sulfates are salts of sulfuric acid; microscopic particles created from the combustion of fossil fuels.

They are bad for the environment as they increase the acidity of the atmosphere, by contributing to acid rain.

Parabens are chemicals commonly used as preservatives by cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, and are synthetically-produced.

L’Oreal says its EverCurl brand is made from natural botanicals — grape seed and hisbiscus oils — and it is “100 per cent vegan”.

With the tagline ‘Free your curls’, EverCurl can emphasize your waves, curls or coils.

“EverCurl is sulphate-free so curls are left hydrated, defined and full of bounce,” says L’Oreal.

“Our formulas, with hibiscus extract and grape seed oil, nourish and care for curls while also imparting fruity and floral fragrance notes.”

The products are said to provide intense moisture and hydration to curly hair, due to their “ultra-rich formula”.

This helps to control ‘frizz’ and provide elasticity and shape to curly hair.

“Free your curls from harsh sulfates and drying agents that make curls frizzy, brittle and stiff,” says L’Oreal.

The line includes: Hydracharge Shampoo, Conditioner, Cleansing Conditioner, Leave-In Cream; Sculpt and Hold Cream Gel; and Silk and Gloss Dual Oil Care.
