FRIDAY, OCT. 1: A fugitive who was on the run from police for more than a year after a shooting incident, today admitted firing a gun in public.

Omari Gordon, 28, entered a guilty plea to the charge of discharging a firearm in a public place when he appeared at Supreme Court this morning. He denied a second charge of using a firearm with intent to resist arrest and the prosecution accepted his plea.

He was remanded in custody until November 1 when a date for sentencing will be set.

Gordon was arrested in July this year after police found him hiding out in a Sandys home, following a tip-off from a member of the public.

Gordon, of Derwent Lane, Devonshire had evaded police since November 2008, when he was reported to have fired on officers as they chased him through Middle Town.
