Omari Gordon was barely recognizable from the wanted photo that had been circulated while he was on the run when he appeared at court this week.

Mr. Gordon had lost a significant amount of weight and he had grown a full beard.

He looked scruffy and dishevelled as he was brought into Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The 26-year-old is accused of opening fire at three police officers as they chased him through Pembroke on November 29, 2008.

Mr. Gordon had remained in Bermuda undetected since the incident until last Thursday when police arrested him at a property in Sandys.

He wore dark jeans and a black hooded sweater as he was escorted in to court by prison guards.

He remained standing during the brief hearing but said nothing as the charges were read to him.

Mr. Gordon is accused of discharging a firearm on November 29, 2008.

He also faces a charge of using a firearm to resist arrest on the same day.

He did not enter pleas to the two counts as the charges can only be dealt with at Supreme Court.

Mr. Gordon was remanded in custody until January 25 when he will appear again at Magistrates' Court.
