MONDAY, NOV. 1: A former fugitive who fired a gun as he was being chased by police has been jailed.

Omari Gordon went on the run from police for more than a year after the shooting in 2008.

Today he was sentenced at Supreme Court to serve 10 years for the offence.

Gordon was arrested in January this year after police found him hiding out in a Sandys home, following a tip-off from a member of the public.

Gordon, of Derwent Lane, Devonshire, had evaded police since November 2008 when he was reported to have fired on officers as they chased him through Middle Town.

He admitted discharging a firearm in public.
