A protest march against Governor George Fergusson, organized by the Opposition PLP, went off without a hitch on Tuesday afternoon.

The crowd started gathering along Langton Hil, outside of Government House around 5pm. They were there to protest the Governor's decision not to form a Commission of Inquiry into historic land grabs that occurred in Bermuda's history, including Tucker's Town in the 1920s for Bermuda's tourism, and in St David's in the 1940s, which was used for the American military base.

Also in question are alleged shady dealings among bankers, lawyers and realtors in the 1950s to 1970s.

The PLP said the Governor's declining to form a Commission was a blow to democracy.

Governor Fergusson, in declining to form the Commission, said that the debate had “raised serious concerns, of public interest. Some may well be worth further examination. But they are not clear enough or urgent enough to justify a Commission of the type proposed.”
